PURPOSE OF THE COMMITTEE


1. Hear and address the concerns of all members working in secondary schools.
2. Work toward the advancement/improvement of athletic training employment in secondary schools (SS).
3. Provide or direct members to resources and tools that will assist them with administration, organization, and delivery of SS athletic training services.
4. Collaborate with the PR Committee for effective educational material and resources to impact stakeholders around the state.
5. Communicate regularly with membership via e-blasts, Newsletter, SS pages on OATA website, or snail mail regarding the progression or status of projects.
6. Inform the Executive Committee of all ideas, needs, and progress.

1. Communication to and from the membership.

3. Full-time, Board hired secondary schools certified athletic trainers.
4. Mentoring and Support network
5. Public Relations

CURRENT PROJECTS

Communication:

Utilize the methods mentioned above along with contacting district reps and annual mailing to SS athletic trainers.
Suggest practice setting open forums annually at the state meeting.
Post HS resource info on website or newsletter

OHSAA

Work on improving our relationship to discuss positive changes for athletic health care and the athletic training profession.
Increase awareness of our educational background along with the laws that regulate our profession.
Work toward consistency throughout all districts regarding pay, protocols for injury management, treatment, etc.
Work with the JAC to achieve the above

Hire Full-time, Board-hired certified athletic trainers

Continue educating stakeholders and influencers (OSBA & other opportunities)
Brainstorm funding solutions to assist schools with hiring

Mentoring/Support Network

Develop support system for new ATCs in the field for each district

Public relations

Search for respected, notable advocates in different professions (ADs, coaches, athletes, etc.) to support us.
Continue to recommend ideas to PR and work with them to achieve an effective result
